1- Hypertension accompanied by visceral damage threatening short-term vital prognosis (hypertensive emergency) particularly in cases of :
- Malignant hypertension (with stage III hypertensive retinopathy).
- Hypertensive encephalopathy.
- dissection aortique
- Aortic dissection.
- Left ventricular decompensation with pulmonary edema.
- Certain severe pre-eclampsia jeopardizing maternal vital prognosis.
2- In the anesthesia setting :
- Controlled hypotension.
- Hypertension during the perioperative period.
