  • Documented streptococcal A beta-hemolytic angina, as an alternative to betalactam treatment, especially when it cannot be used.
  • Acute sinusitis. Given the microbiological profile of these infections, macrolides are indicated when beta-lactam treatment is not possible.
  • Superinfections of acute bronchitis.
  • Exacerbations of chronic bronchitis.
  • Community-acquired pneumonia in subjects.

Without risk factors, without signs of clinical severity, in the absence of clinical evidence suggestive of pneumococcal etiology. In cases of suspected atypical pneumonia, macrolides are indicated regardless of severity and underlying conditions.

  • Benign skin infections: impetigo, impetiginization of dermatoses, ecthyma, infectious dermohypodermitis (in particular, erysipelas), erythrasma.
  • Curative treatment of Mycobacterium avium infections in HIV-infected patients.
  • Stomatological infections. Official recommendations regarding the appropriate use of antibiotics should be taken into account.
